We provided a complete, end-to-end technology solution for a stunning beachfront home. Our team designed and installed a fully integrated smart home system, effortlessly blending intelligent automation, immersive multimedia, precisely calibrated lighting, and a robust security framework.

Lighting Control

A key part to any Smart Home is lighting. Lighting in my opinion can ‘make or break’ a project. For me it is an extension of the architect & client’s vision towards their dream home. Before we were engaged, hundreds of hours had been poured into this vision by both the client and architect, therefore we owe it to them to design and execute a lighting system that not only highlights their vision, but enhances it far beyond their expectations.

Shade Control

For enhanced privacy, energy efficiency, and aesthetic appeal, we installed an automated shade control system. These shades, managed by Dynalite controllers and seamlessly integrated into the broader Dynalite system, operate on pre-programmed schedules. This allows for precise control over natural light, ventilation, and temperature management.

Control4 Automation System

Enhancing the overall smart home experience, the Control4 automation system unifies all smart home functionalities into a central hub. It offers seamless integration and control of every device, providing customisation, energy efficiency, enhanced security, and simplified management from a single platform.

Network

Given the complex design and inherent signal obstruction from the steel and concrete construction, ensuring reliable Wi-Fi coverage throughout this residence was a significant hurdle. We overcame this by deploying an Araknis network architecture, valued for both its strong performance and exceptional cost-effectiveness. Araknis’s central management, powered by OVRC integration, streamlined control, programming, and troubleshooting. This offers powerful, user-friendly operation, accessible both locally and remotely. Seamless wireless coverage was ensured through a comprehensive site survey and scan, optimizing access point placement.

Intercom

For this luxury residence, an integrated intercom system redefines the initial point of interaction, offering a sophisticated layer of security and communication beyond a standard doorbell. Strategically placed Control4 touch panels provide the clients with crystal-clear, high-definition video verification of visitors, ensuring enhanced security and peace of mind before granting access. This visual confirmation, paired with two-way audio, enables convenient and secure communication with callers. Additionally, integrated access keypads offer secure keyless entry for residents and authorized personnel. By leveraging IP connectivity, the system supports seamless remote management and even global control via smartphones or tablets.
Homeowners can monitor entries, communicate with visitors, and grant access fromanywhere, adding unparalleled convenience and security essential for a high-end Gold Coast lifestyle.

Security

For unparalleled peace of mind, this luxury residence incorporates a robust integrated security system, expertly synchronized with the Control4 automation platform. Comprehensive motion and heat signature monitoring is achieved via strategically placed thermal and passive infrared detectors across the property. This advanced, multi-layered intrusion detection is fully accessible and manageable through the intuitive Control4 interface, ensuring a truly secure living environment for the clients.

Access Control

To significantly enhance the property’s security, keyless entry functionality was integrated. We achieved this by deploying an advanced 9 button keypad access control system at three critical entrances. This system offers a secure and highly convenient means of entry for the clients, their family, and authorized tradespeople. Precision control is further ensured through the implementation of unique access codes and fully customizable schedules.

Video surveillance

To provide comprehensive and reliable surveillance, a sophisticated Hikvision CCTV system was installed across the property. This advanced system utilizes ColourVu technology for vivid, full-color imagery 24/7, even in low-light conditions. This continuous color capability significantly enhances detail and clarity in security footage for accurate identification and incident analysis. Strategically placed, these high-resolution cameras offer extensive perimeter coverage, providing invaluable security and peace of mind for discerning homeowners.

Distributed Audio

High-fidelity audio is distributed throughout the home via a comprehensive system orchestrated by an Episode Audio matrix. This matrix receives multiple inputs, managing their switching and output volume to all zones. Audio is then delivered to each zone through integrated powered amplifiers and speakers. To ensure balanced sound, the matrix features a 16-band equalizer and input gain control. Additionally, Blustream digital audio over CAT extenders facilitate direct audio extraction from TVs, routing it back to the matrix. The result is a centralized system that offers seamless audio zone integration, free of delays, with both independent and synchronized volume control capabilities.

Distributed Video

Embracing the modern shift to app-based content, we implemented a design that deliberately moves away from traditional distributed video systems. Instead, each viewing area is equipped with high-end smart televisions featuring integrated apps and robust processors. This strategic decision offers potential buyers a premium, independent viewing experience in every zone while simultaneously simplifying the overall system architecture and user interfaces. The result is a contemporary content consumption solution that delivers both exceptional performance and user-friendly simplicity throughout the residence.

Electrical

Our turnkey solution encompassed full management of all electrical aspects, executed in close partnership with the client’s nominated electrical engineering firm. This collaboration ensured seamless integration and a single client contact, offering control and peace of mind. We designed and implemented a robust 80A 3-phase electrical system throughout the 4-level residence. But built the infrastructure to handle up to 160A should the client ever find they need to expand their power needs. Efficient power distribution, from the street to the basement’s main switchboard, was achieved using 70mm XLPE mains cabling. Supplementary sub-boards on the ground and first floors further optimized delivery, preventing voltage drop and ensuring consistent performance. Additionally, we implemented a battery backup system, tied into the solar array on the roof, to guarantee essential services remain continuously powered.

HVAC Control

Given the project’s subtropical climate and the sheer size of the residence, ensuring consistent and precise temperature control was a top priority. To achieve this, we strategically integrated a sophisticated Cool Master system with the existing high-performance Daikin HVAC infrastructure. This provides the homeowners with elegant and reliable climate management, enabling nuanced temperature adjustments across all zones. Crucially, the Cool Master system’s seamless interface with the central Control4 automation platform offers an intuitive user experience, allowing effortless climate control via touchscreens, mobile devices, or voice commands. The result is optimal comfort and energy efficiency, easily managed, which significantly enhances the luxury living experience, perfectly suited to the Gold Coast environment.
